Waste management

There are no waste collection facilities in the neighbourhood. Most waste is burned on site. Often, waste is dumped in ravines, which is also considered a strategy against ravine formation. The waste dumped in ravines is regularly set on fire, but the vegetation that could protect against erosion also suffers as a result.

The residents themselves have started to organise waste collection in the neighbourhood. However, there is insufficient knowledge to do this in a sustainable and effective manner. There is also a lack of knowledge about how to process and reuse the waste.

This is an area where we also want to find solutions in the future.
